Product description
Rare and Beautiful ‘Il Ponte’ Sideboard in very good condition.
Designeed by Hans von Klier in the 1970s.
Manufactured by Skipper, Italy.
A sophisticated Italian sideboard designed by Hans von Klier, distinguished by its architectural proportions, rich walnut construction and striking fully upholstered black leather doors.
The warm, expressive grain of the walnut body contrasts beautifully with the deep black leather fronts, creating a refined and timeless aesthetic. The doors are fully clad in black leather, adding a tactile quality and understated sense of luxury to the piece.
The sideboard combines elegant design with thoughtful functionality. It features 6 drawers, one fitted with a dedicated bar insert, while behind the two leather-clad doors are glass shelves, providing versatile storage and an ideal setting for glassware, bottles or decorative objects. Thanks to its fully finished back, the sideboard can also be used as a room divider, allowing it to be positioned freely within a space rather than solely against a wall.
The cabinet is raised on elegant polished stainless steel legs, adding a subtle architectural lightness and a refined touch of brilliance to the otherwise warm and tactile composition.
The combination of walnut, black leather, glass and polished stainless steel creates a sophisticated material palette characteristic of high-quality Italian design. With its discreet bar compartment and generous storage, the piece is as functional as it is visually compelling.
A distinctive vintage design piece for a sophisticated living or dining interior, equally at home in a private collection or contemporary design setting.
From 1960-1968 working in the studio of Ettore Sottsass jr. Hans Von Klier creates the future-oriented design for Olivetti office equipment and office furnishing systems. During this period, von Klier exhibits twice at the Triennale in Milano and, in 1962, has the chance of his own exhibition for didactic toys at the gallery “ll Sestante” in Milano.
As an international designer, he has repeatedly been selected as a juror, amongst others for the German Federal Award “GUTE FORM” / E.S.A.G. Paris/ SMAU Milan/ INTERNATIONAL FARB-DESIGN PREIS Stuttgart/iF Hannover. In addition he has held lectures and speeches on modern design at several universities and institutions in Germany, England, the USA, Singapore and Canada. The focus of his current creations lies on corporate design, objects, furniture and office furnishing systems, conception and constructions for fairs and exhibitions and interior design.
