Alan Irvine was inspired by Carlo Scarpa’s circular window forms for Gavina’s shop in Bologna’s Via Altabella.
Alan Irvine Biography:
Architect and designer. Graduate of the Royal College of Art, and the Polytechnic London. Worked in Milan with BBPR Group 1954 – 5. Since then based in London, specialising in interiors, museums, and cultural exhibitions world wide. Clients have included Olivetti, Fiat, and many European museums. Exhibitions have included Horses of San Marco; Glass of Caesars; Lion of Venice; Leonardo Drawings in Milan; and Michelangelo Drawings at the Louvre. Collaborated with Carlo Scarpa on the Frescoes from Florence, and the Giorgio Morandi exhibitions in London.
Furniture specially commissioned for these exhibitions has subsequently been produced by Simon Gavina, Italy.
