Product description

A monumental Il Ponte executive desk in very good condition.

Designed by Hans von Klier

Manufactured by Skipper, Italy 1970s

Designed by Hans von Klier for Skipper, dating from the 1970s and representing the refined, architectural character of Italian executive furniture of the period.

The substantial desk features a beautifully figured walnut veneer top, complemented by a genuine black leather writing inlay.

Along the desk, carefully integrated polished aluminium details provide a striking contrast to the warmth of the wood, while the distinctive T-shaped supports reinforce its architectural character.

The desk incorporates three drawers, with carefully integrated wooden detailing and handles, retaining a remarkably architectural appearance despite its substantial size.

A particularly elegant feature is the channel running alongside the leather writing surface, designed to hold the original containers for assorted desk necessities. These original accessories form an integral part of the desk’s design and demonstrate the exceptional attention to functionality and detail characteristic of von Klier’s work.

The desk combines walnut, leather and polished aluminium in a sophisticated and highly functional composition. Its generous proportions and sculptural construction make it an impressive statement piece for an executive office, study or contemporary interior.

From 1960-1968 working in the studio of Ettore Sottsass jr. Hans Von Klier creates the future-oriented design for Olivetti office equipment and office furnishing systems. During this period, von Klier exhibits twice at the Triennale in Milano and, in 1962, has the chance of his own exhibition for didactic toys at the gallery “ll Sestante” in Milano.

As an international designer, he has repeatedly been selected as a juror, amongst others for the German Federal Award “GUTE FORM” / E.S.A.G. Paris/ SMAU Milan/ INTERNATIONAL FARB-DESIGN PREIS Stuttgart/iF Hannover. In addition he has held lectures and speeches on modern design at several universities and institutions in Germany, England, the USA, Singapore and Canada. The focus of his current creations lies on corporate design, objects, furniture and office furnishing systems, conception and constructions for fairs and exhibitions and interior design.
