Exceptional ‘Ressaquinha’ bench in excellent condition. Designed by the Brazilian architect Mauricio Azeredo. This 3-seat bench is made of three different Brazilian woods: Cumaru, Muirapiranga and Pau-Ouro. It is beautifully shaped and combines all three different woods to make a great color palet. Mauricio Azeredo used his trademark three-dimensional joint to connect all the pieces without any screws or nails. This Bench was given a award by MCB (Museu Da Casa Brasileira) The award was given due to its aesthetic qualities, its constructive clarity, through the mallet system, and research on Brazilian woods, which is explored in its chromatic and textural aspects. ” This was the jury's justification for contemplating the Ubá table and the Ressaquinha bank, inaugurating Maurício Azeredo's participation in the MCB Award. Driven by the desire to “incorporate into the furniture, a predominantly functional object, a plastic, artistic, emotional dimension that had disappeared with the dominance of the concepts of international rationalism”, Azeredo built a solid trajectory, becoming one of the greatest exponents of modern joinery Brazilian. He was named master of wood, together with Bahian José Zanine Caldas (1919-2001).
