Rare and Impressive ‘Raymond’ Sectional Sofa by Kazuhide Takahama for Gavina

Beautiful ‘Raymond' sectional sofa in very good original condition.

The sofa is upholstered in the original gold/yellow high-end velours which changes color depending on how the light falls on the cushions.
By turning the cushions you can establish a lighter or darker effect. (See pictures)
The sofa consists of ten sectional elements which can be used freely and apart from one another, this provides endless flexible solutions for any project or living room.
Each element consists of two back cushions and a seat cushion which are placed in a polyester and fiberglass shell.
The cushions are all provided with new high density foam. and the original velour has been professionally cleaned.
Marked with a ‘Gavina’ sticker.
Measurements of one element: 60 x 75.5 x 79 cm. (23.6 x 29.7 x 31.1 in.)

The ‘Raymond’ Sofa has only been in the Gavina collection for a few years which makes it very rare, as specially in this large setup.
This sofa comes from a Belgian satellite ground station which was still furnished with only high-end 1960s and 1970s furniture.

After graduating from the Tokyo Institute of Technology in 1953, Kazuhide Takahama designed the Japanese Pavilion for the Milan Triennale. While supervising the installation, Takahama met Dino Gavina, who invited him to design for his design company, Gavina SpA. Over the next decade. Takahama introduced several designs through Gavina, including three lounge collections; Marcel, Raymond and Suzanne (named after Marcel Breuer and his brother and sister)
